Special Enrollment Period – Individual Coverage

Open Enrollment for individual health insurance ended on February 15.  Fortunately, outside of Open Enrollment, there are still opportunities to get covered with an individual policy if you qualify for a Special Enrollment Period.  Here are some of the qualifying events that could create a Special Enrollment Period for you.

• Getting Married
• Having a Baby
• Adopting a Child
• Placing a Child for Adoption or Foster Care
• Losing Other Coverage
  • Letting your policy lapse due to non-payment of premium will not qualify you for a Special Enrollment Period
• Moving Outside Your Plan Coverage Area
• Gaining Citizenship
• End of Incarceration
