I missed individual open enrollment – now what?

Life gets busy, it’s easy to lose track of time.

If you missed the 2014 open enrollment, your options are a bit limited, but that doesn’t mean that you don’t still have the opportunity to apply for coverage.

  • If you have a qualifying event, you can use a Special Enrollment Period to purchase coverage.
  • If you didn’t have coverage last year and just found out about the penalty for not having coverage, you may be able to use a one-time special enrollment period from 3/15-4/30 to get coverage.
  • If all else fails, you may be able to get short-term coverage.  This type of coverage doesn’t meet the requirements of healthcare reform and won’t help you avoid the penalty for 2015 – it is also likely subject to health underwriting.

While your options may be a bit limited in 2015, that doesn’t mean you don’t have options.

If you want to talk more about coverage for the rest of 2015, give us a call @ 800-303-6329 or send us a message.

Please remember – this blog is general in nature.  We wrote this blog for a lot of people to read, your specific situation may be different.  We would love to talk with you about options and solutions.
